Authentic 19th-Century Salvaged Lighting, Hand-Restored & Ready to Install

This is a vintage Crouse-Hinds industrial-grade light fitting, manufactured in the mid-20th century (circa 1940s–1960s). Crouse-Hinds, an American company founded in 1897 and well known for its heavy-duty electrical fittings, produced these robust luminaires for demanding environments such as shipyards, factories, airfields, and large outdoor installations. Their solid cast construction and prismatic glass lenses were designed to withstand harsh conditions while providing powerful, directed illumination.

Construction & Features

Cast aluminium body with bronze G clamps, retaining the lens via bar-retaining hinge. The lens is the  original ribbed prismatic glass for controlled light dispersion. Manufacturer name is included on the cast bezel. This light has been converted to be ceiling hanging using a bespoke handmade ceiling rose in polished steel with marine grade retaining D-shackles and chain.

Mounting

Mounting is completed by the heavy duty ceiling plate included within the rose and connecting eye bolt.

Cable Entry

Cable entry is through the top of the fitting using a matching cable grip, with previous entry being closed off with rubber plugs.

Restoration & Conversion

Cleaned and polished. Rewired and electrically tested prior to shipping to BS 60598 standards. Testing reports are provided.
